2021 Season Information

COVID Considerations

Yes!  A 2020-2021 Club Volleyball Season is in the works!
Please read how the Cheasapeake Region Volleyball Association (CHRVA) is responding to COVID on the CHRVA Participation Position Statement, or go to the CHRVA Girls Volleyball page for more information regarding the upcoming season.

SRVC will comply with both the CHRVA Participation Position Statement and  USAV Return to Play Guidelines.  This includes player and coach temperature checks, wearing masks, small groups, available sanitizer and hand washing (with breaks), and sanitizing of volleyballs.  We ask of our families:

  • DO NOT send your player to practice or tournaments if they have been exposed to someone with COVID or have a temperature over 100 degrees.
  • Players should bring their own hand sanitizer and/or wipes and their own water bottles and other personal items.
  • Players should refrain from touching one another (e.g. high fives and hugs) or sharing any personal items (kneepads, socks, water bottles, etc).
  • Players and parents should wear masks, covering both their noses and mouths, upon entry into the facility.  CHRVA requires masks at all times, even during active play.
  • DO NOT wait for your player inside the facility.

Practice Locations and Days

Due to COVID, parents MAY NOT wait inside the facility during practice.  Everyone entering the facility MUST wear a mask covering both their nose and mouth.  Players must wear masks during active play, per CHRVA rules.

Our primary practice facility is Benfield Sports Center in Millersville and our secondary facility is Carl Pip Moyer Recreation Center at Truxtun Park in Annapolis.

A complete practice calendar will be published at the beginning of the season.  Practices for all age groups start on November 10, 2020 and generally end with a tournament on Memorial Day weekend with the exception of 12U and 18U. They end their season with Regionals.

The number of days a week for practices are typically as follows:

14U - 18U: 3 times per week

12U - 13U: 2 times per week

Tournament Information

Each team generally participates in 13 - 18 tournament days per season. The number of days is dependent on the age group, as well as individual team needs and goals. Historically, SRVC has participated in many single and multi-day USAV/CHRVA and AAU tournaments. We have also had teams participate in the GJNC and AAU Nationals in the past.

Specific tournament information will be discussed at the Parent Meeting once teams are formed.  Depending on the age group, tournaments may include:

  • NEQs
  • MLK
  • Capitol Hill Classic
  • Mid-Atlantic Power League
  • CHRVA Regionals
  • Beast of the East
  • USA Volleyball Girls Junior Nationals
  • AAU Girls Volleyball Nationals
  • Various other local and travel tournaments

If a payment is late, the player will not be permitted to participate in practice or tournaments until payment is received

Regular Season Club Refund Policy:

SRVC is a not-for-profit organization.  As such, our budget is dependent upon tuition from players accepting positions on their respective teams.  Once a player accepts an offer and the first installment is made, they have committed to SRVC for the season.

  • If a player decides to withdraw from the club for any reason, they are responsible for all outstanding tuition.
  • Exceptions due to injury during play will be considered by the Board, otherwise refunds will not be granted for any reason.
  • Refunds will be determined by the Board for special circumstances, such as COVID related cancellations.

Volunteer opportunities

Due to COVID restrictions, several volunteer positions will have some changes this season.

SRVC and our players depend on volunteers to make the season a success. Each family will be required to fill one volunteer position.  These positions will be further discussed at the Parent Meeting with descriptions in the link below.
